Lawrence J. Lesko to Receive Gary Neil Prize for Innovation in Drug Development
Alexandria, VA (March 2, 2011) – Lawrence J. Lesko, PhD, has been selected by the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT) as the 2011 recipient of the Gary Neil Prize for Innovation in Drug Development.
The award recognizes innovative science in clinical drug development by acknowledging individuals and teams leading the field. It was established in 2004 to honor Dr. Gary Neil, former Executive Vice President of Worldwide Research and Development at Wyeth-Ayerst.
ASCPT will present the award to Dr. Lesko on March 2, 2011, following the opening session of its 112th Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Lesko is Director of the Office of Clinical Pharmacology at FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. He has helped develop innovative regulatory science approaches and industry guidance as Chair of the FDA Pharmacogenomics Working Group and Clinical Pharmacology Section of the Medical Policy Coordinating Committee. Dr. Lesko has published more than 150 scholarly articles, received countless honors and awards and is a frequent keynote speaker at national and international professional meetings.
