Susan Abdel-Rahman to Receive Leon I. Goldberg Young Investigator Award at 2011 ASCPT Annual Meeting

Alexandria, VA (March 2, 2011) – Susan Abdel-Rahman, PharmD, will receive the Leon I. Goldberg Young Investigator Award at the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT) Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas.

The award was created in 1986 in honor of Leon I. Goldberg’s many contributions to ASCPT. It recognizes active scientists in the field of clinical pharmacology for early and remarkable career achievements.

ASCPT will present the award to Dr. Abdel-Rahman on March 3, 2011, prior to her lecture, “When Efficacy and Effectiveness Diverge: Lessons Learned from Dermatophyte Fungi.”

Dr. Abdel-Rahman directs the Developmental Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Core Laboratory and the Fungal Genetics Laboratory at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Her research explores pediatric infectious diseases, developmental pharmacokinetics and applications of kinetic, genetic and genomic tools to better understand drug response in pediatric patients.
