Leadership Pathways

There are many opportunities to get involved in ASCPT. Below are just four examples highlighting how some of our members have become leaders. Get involved in ASCPT and discover your path to leadership! Select the volunteer roles that you are interested in and return the form to the ASCPT office.

  Karthik Venkatakrishnan, PhD
Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Current chair of the Scientific Program Committee

“ASCPT is a very democratic society and encourages every member to get involved and make a difference, which makes it particularly rewarding to engage and volunteer in the Society. The society clearly identifies leadership pathways to guide such involvement. Attend your section meetings at the Annual Meeting and take advantage of opportunities to influence scientific programming by submitting proposals. Every member can make a difference. If there is a topic that is near and dear to your heart, and you would like to see it featured in the Meeting program, work with your Section leadership and propose a symposium topic for consideration – it is a highly competitive process, but that should not let you shy away from putting forth a proposal. ASCPT gives its members the unique opportunity to shape the meeting program. Everyone can be a leader and can take pride in shaping the Annual Meeting program. I have personally found this process to be very rewarding and it has allowed me to expand my network within the Society and its exceptional scientific leaders."

Anuradha Ramamoorthy, PhD
Postdoctorial Fellow, National Institutes of Health
Scientific Program Committee

“I have been attending the ASCPT Annual Meetings since 2008 and have had the opportunity to present multiple posters.  This has helped me stay current with the emerging technological advances that are at the forefront of clinical pharmacology.  I am member of MOL and ONC sections and have enjoyed being a part of their stimulating discussions.  Additionally, being a part of the Scientific Program Committee was an enriching experience that provided me the opportunity to contribute to the 2012 and 2013 ASCPT Annual Meetings and understand how such high quality scientific programming is achieved.  Through this, I have been able to contribute to the Society, work with many eminent and longtime members, and, in the process, develop leadership skills."
