About CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology
CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology is a sibling journal to the well-established high impact journal, Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (2011 Impact Factor, 6.043, Journal Citation Reports, Thomson Reuters, 2012). The journal provides a unique international forum for scientists in the pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology space. CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology publishes advances in quantitative methods as applied in pharmacology, physiology, and therapeutics in humans with a common focus on the application of these two areas on drug development. While Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics will continue to publish papers in these fields if they apply to a broader audience and general interest, CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology will provide authors a second publication choice for papers that are targeted more uniquely to the pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology communities.
CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology is a online-only, open-access journal devoted to publishing advances in quantitative methods as applied in pharmacology, physiology, and therapeutics in humans. The scope of the journal spans pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology with the common focus of the journal on quantitative methods that improve our understanding of pharmacology and therapeutics in humans. The journal welcomes original research articles in the following areas: pharmacometrics, modeling and simulation as applied to the design and evaluation of clinical trials, systems pharmacology modeling, particularly with a mechanistic link to human physiology, disease modeling, “population” or mixed-effects pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics modeling, physiologically-based pharmacokinetics (PBPK), model-based meta-analyses of clinical trials, pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling, computational pharmacology, comparative efficacy, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. Systems pharmacology may involve the application of systems biology approaches to study drug activities, targets, and effects. The discipline is often defined with reference to engineering and pharmacological principles as the quantitative analysis of the dynamic interactions between drugs and a biologic system that aims to understand the behavior of the system as a whole.
CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology is an official journal of the International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP). ISoP seeks to promote and advance the discipline of pharmacometrics and broaden its impact through scientific innovation, integration of knowledge and skills across disciplines, and a positive impact on biomedical research and development and joins ASCPT’s efforts to increase awareness about the importance of pharmacometrics in drug development.
The editorial team is led by Editor-in-Chief, Piet van der Graaf, PharmD, PhD, includes a highly respected international editorial board. Together, the CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology editorial team, ASCPT, ISoP, and NPG look to further define and shape the fields of pharmacometrics and systems pharmacology as applied to drug development.
