Scientific Sections

As the primary forum for member exchange and networking, ASCPT’s Scientific Sections promote interaction among members who share a common field of interest. In doing so, they facilitate scientific growth within that area.

Section Structure
Sections are categorized into two main groups: Tools (or Methods) and Applications. ASCPT members can choose two sections to join.

Tools/Methods Applications
Biomarkers and Imaging (BIO)
Molecular Pharmacology and Pharmacogenetics (MOL)
Pharmacometrics and Pharmacokinetics (PMK)
Drug Development and Regulatory Sciences (DDR)
Drug Safety (SAF)
Infectious Diseases (INF)
Oncology (ONC)
Organ Specific Diseases (OSD)
Special Populations (SPO)

Section Activities
  • Develop and facilitate avenues for peer-to-peer contact and group interaction
  • Recruit new members to ASCPT and the section
  • Help identify and develop proposals for educational sessions at the Annual Meeting
  • Solicit scientific abstracts for presentation at the Annual Meeting
  • Identify a pool of scientists to review abstracts
  • Hold a meeting of section members at the Annual Meeting
  • Encourage the submission of manuscripts to Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics
  • Establish the need, develop and conduct stand-alone educational programs, raising the revenue necessary for such programs

Section Governance

Each section has a chair and at least one vice-chair. Some sections have more than one vice chair depending on size and composition.

The Coordinating Committee on Scientific Sections (CCSS) coordinates the educational and programmatic activities of ASCPT’s scientific sections. The CCSS is comprised of a chair and vice chair plus 4-5 section chairs. Each section has a liaison on the CCSS.
