NOMINEES FROM ACADEMIA
SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO INCLUDE IN A LETTER OF NOMINATION
The following are suggestions only and not criteria.
When drafting your letter of nomination for a nominee with a background in academia consider incorporating the following information, activities, ideas, and examples in your letter of nomination:
- Indicate the reason(s) you are nominating the person for the award.
- Educational background including training programs, fellowships, and internships
- Key publication citations (journals, books, chapters)
- Work with trainees – length of time directing a trainee program(s), success of the program, changes made to program to increase successes, examples of new ideas/teaching methods implemented.
- Illustrate the range and progression of academic appointments.
- Examples of classes, programs, and/or training sessions that have been developed and have had an impact on the field of clinical pharmacology.
- Summary of research – scope, outcome and impact of research, examples of how research translates into action.
- Impact of studies - Is this the first study done? Did the outcomes of the study set a precedent? Was this a landmark study?
- Examples of quantity and quality of outside sources of funding which have been procured.
- Examples of working relationships established with industry and/or government.
- Awards/recognition received for academic work.
- Examples of leadership skills
- Advisory and advocacy roles held.
- Service and contributions to ASCPT
- Broader service and contributions to the field of clinical pharmacology
- Membership and roles in other clinical pharmacology organizations.
