NOMINEES FROM INDUSTRY
SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO INCLUDE IN A LETTER OF NOMINATION
The following are suggestions only and not criteria.
When drafting your letter of nomination for a nominee with a background in industry consider incorporating the following information, activities, ideas, and examples in your letter of nomination:
- Indicate the reason(s) you are nominating the person for the award.
- Educational background including training programs, fellowships, and internships
- Summary of research – scope, outcome and impact of research, examples of how research translates into action.
- Impact of studies - Is this the first study done? Did the outcomes of the study set a precedent? Was this a landmark study?
- Highlights of integrated industry accomplishments. Examples include:
- Developed methods for delivering biologics/vaccines via novel routes (oral or inhaled)
- Discovered and developed a drug target like HMG CoA-reductase thus bringing statins to the market
- Developed and validated major clinical endpoints or use of new technologies to assess efficacy and safety of drugs in development.
- Examples of working relationships established with academia and/or government
- Awards/recognition received.
- Examples of leadership roles and activities.
- Advisory and advocacy roles held.
- Service and contributions to ASCPT
- Broader service and contributions to the field of clinical pharmacology
- Membership and roles in other clinical pharmacology organizations.
