Sean Hennessy, PharmD, PhD

The ASCPT Member of the Month is a forum to recognize and thank a member of ASCPT who has supported the Society's endeavors. Each month on its web site, ASCPT highlights one member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty! We also highlight the Member of the Month, along with two other members, in each issue of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. We hope you will enjoy learning about fellow members and as always, encourage your participation in Society events and activities.
ASCPT is proud to recognize Dr. Sean Hennessy as the November Member of the Month.
Dr. Hennessy is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Pharmacology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.
Despite having found his niche in the field of clinical pharmacology, Dr. Hennessy has a deep appreciation for the entire continuum: "clinical pharmacology occurs across a broad spectrum from bench to bedside to population. My primary focus is on the "right-hand" side of this spectrum, examining drug effects in populations. Nevertheless, the best pharmacoepidemiologic studies are those that are informed by and examine hypotheses emerging from the "left hand" side of the spectrum." Dr. Hennessy has found both the Annual Meeting and journal as tools to "keep me grounded in the 'left-hand' side of the bench-bedside-population spectrum." Dr. Hennessy hopes to interact even more with other ASCPT members "since I recently became active in the leadership of the Pharmacoepidemiology, Drug Safety and Outcomes Research (PHE) section, a member of the Scientific Program Committee, and an editorial board member of CP&T." In addition to volunteering with ASCPT, Dr. Hennessy serves on five academic and institutional committees and is a member to multiple domestic and international scientific societies. Dr. Hennessy has authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and has published 16 abstracts within the past three years.
Thank you, Dr. Hennessy, for your valuable leadership and continued commitment to ASCPT and the discipline of clinical pharmacology!
