ASCPT Member of the Month

Member of the Month: Robert J. Noveck, MD, PhD, FCP
Robert J. Noveck, MD, PhD, FCP

The ASCPT Member of the Month is a forum to recognize and thank a member of ASCPT who has supported the Society's endeavors. Each month on its web site, ASCPT highlights one member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty! We also highlight the Member of the Month, along with two other members, in each issue of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. We hope you will enjoy learning about fellow members and as always, encourage your participation in Society events and activities.

ASCPT is proud to recognize Robert Noveck as the January Member of the Month. Dr. Noveck is Senior Medical Director, MDS Pharma Services, Neptune, NJ. He received his PhD from Tulane University School of Medicine and his MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He has held several positions within the Tulane University School of Medicine and is currently Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in Tulane's Department of Medicine and Adjunct Associate Professor in their Department of Pharmacology.

The most exciting areas in clinical pharmacology for Dr. Noveck are the molecular revolution of pharmacogenomics and modeling and simulation during drug development. "Pharmacogenomics permits us to better understand the variability of drug responses and modeling and simulation has afforded us the opportunity to anticipate drug responses prior to first-in-man clinical trials." He adds, "Our Society has always been in the forefront of change; serving not only as the discipline that bridges other basic sciences, but also as a critical voice for the ethical and rationale use of drugs. This is especially true more recently with the FDA's leadership role in the Critical Path Initiative - to foster a better utilization of resources, in which our Society has played a pivotal role in serving as a focus for discussion between industry, academia and the FDA."

When asked what about his membership in ASCPT he values most Dr. Noveck replied, "ASCPT has been a focal point for acquiring new knowledge and continual intellectual stimulation. I always look forward to our annual meeting which permits me to renew old friendships, meet new people and hear state-of-the art lectures." He adds, "The Society has had a great influence on my development over the years."

Thank you, Dr. Noveck, for your valuable leadership and your continued commitment to ASCPT and the discipline of clinical pharmacology!
