The ASCPT Member of the Month is a forum to recognize and thank a member of ASCPT who has supported the Society's endeavors. Each month on its web site, ASCPT highlights one member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty! We also highlight the Member of the Month, along with two other members, in each issue of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. We hope you will enjoy learning about fellow members and as always, encourage your participation in Society events and activities.
ASCPT is proud to recognize Dr. Peter Honig as the January Member of the Month.
Peter Honig, MD, MPH is the Executive Vice President in the Worldwide Regulatory Affairs and Product Safety department of Merck & Co., Inc., in North Wales, PA. Dr. Honig currently serves as the Chair of the Scientific Awards Selection Task Force and as an Associate Editor for the journal. Additionally, he has served in various leadership roles in ASCPT including President, member of the Board of Directors, and chair of the Pharmacoepidemiology, Drug Safety and Outcomes Research (PHE) scientific section. He sees ASCPT as "the prominent society for those interested in our discipline. It offers not only the opportunity to keep up to date with the scientific advances but also allows members to interact with leaders in the field, to share common views on science and policy, and to learn more about the breadth and applications of clinical pharmacology skills." From an industry perspective, Dr. Honig sees clinical pharmacology as "at the core of most important drug development decisions and the disciplined applications of the ability to apply the principles of clinical pharmacology in a formal and disciplined manner is a competitive advantage." In addition to his volunteer service with ASCPT, Dr. Honig serves as the PhRMA representative to the International Conference on Harmonization Steering Committee.
Thank you, Dr. Honig, for your valuable leadership and continued commitment to ASCPT and the discipline of clinical pharmacology!
