ASCPT Member of the Month
The ASCPT Member of the Month is a forum to recognize and thank a member of ASCPT who has supported the Society's endeavors. Each month on its web site, ASCPT highlights one member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty! We also highlight the Member of the Month, along with two other members, in each issue of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. We hope you will enjoy learning about fellow members and as always, encourage your participation in Society events and activities. ASCPT is proud to recognize Dr. Judith K. Jones as the March Member of the Month. Judith K. Jones, MD, PhD, is the President and CEO of The Degge Group, Ltd., in Arlington, VA. Dr. Jones has a history of service to ASCPT, serving as Chair of the Membership Committee and Chair of the Drug Safety Task Force, among others. In 2002, Dr. Jones was awarded the prestigious Henry W. Elliott Distinguished Service Award from ASCPT. Dr. Jones is a clinical pharmacologist/pharmacoepidemiologist trained in geriatrics and internal medicine with a longstanding interest in the study of adverse drug reactions, drug utilization, and drug development and regulation. Throughout her career, Dr. Jones has been dedicated to international cooperation and communication in the field of drug safety. She has represented international pharmaceutical companies before U.S., European and other international regulatory bodies on drug development, safety and risk management issues. Dr. Jones has published numerous of articles relating to adverse reactions, post marketing surveillance of drugs, pharmacoepidemiology and natural history of disease, drugs in geriatric patients and drug information for patients and physicians. At the 2009 ASCPT Annual Meeting, Dr. Jones will participate in the Clinical Pharmacology Curriculum Review Course discussing the topic of Drug Safety and in the Symposium entitled "Recent Changes at FDA Impacting Drug Safety and Perspectives from Beyond the Agency."
