Michael J. Avram, PhD

The ASCPT Member of the Month is a forum to recognize and thank a member of ASCPT who has supported the Society's endeavors. Each month on its web site, ASCPT highlights one member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty! We also highlight the Member of the Month, along with two other members, in each issue of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. We hope you will enjoy learning about fellow members and as always, encourage your participation in Society events and activities.

ASCPT is proud to recognize Dr. Michael J. Avram as the April Member of the Month.

Michael J. Avram, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. Dr. Avram has been a member of ASCPT since 1987. He currently serves on the Scientific Program Committee and has devoted many volunteer hours to the success of the Society's journal, Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics.

In 2008, Dr. Avram was the top reviewer for the journal and co-edited the July 2008 issue on anesthesiology with Drs. Art Atkinson and Dhanesh Gupta. He most recently accepted a position on the journal's Editorial Board. In addition to his position at Northwestern, Dr. Avram has consulted for Jenner & Block, LLP, Alexza Pharmaceuticals, and Abbott Laboratories. Over the years, he has served on 17 committees at his institution, including the Medical Student Summer Research Program (MSSRP) Committee, Liaison Committee on Medical Education: Educational Resources Committee, and the Medical School Admissions Committee. Dr. Avram has published over 225 works, including abstracts, peer-reviewed articles, and books.
