ASCPT Member of the Month

Member of the Month: Charles V. Grudzinskas, PhD
Charles V. Grudzinskas, PhD

The ASCPT Member of the Month—a forum to recognize and thank a member of ASCPT who has supported the Society's endeavors. Each month ASCPT highlights one member on our web site who has gone above and beyond the call of duty! We also highlight the Member of the Month, along with two other members, in each edition of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (CPT). We hope you enjoy learning about your fellow members and always encourage your participation in Society events and activities.

ASCPT is proud to recognize Charles Grudzinskas as the June Member of the Month. Dr. Grudzinskas is Co-founder and Principal of NDA Partners LLC in Annapolis, MD. He has been a member of the Scientific Program Committee since 2006 and served on ASCPT's Strategic Planning Task Force in 2006. He has served in many capacities for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and currently serves on the NIH's National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism Mediations Development Team.

He believes that one of the most exciting aspects of clinical pharmacology is the rapidly expanding ability to predict which patient is likely to respond, who is not likely to respond, and who is likely to have adverse effects when new and already approved drugs are administered. "We are on the verge of providing prescribers with 'a pair of pharmacogenetic eyeglasses' when deciding which drugs are right for their patients," says Dr. Grudzinskas.

Dr. Grudzinskas is appreciative to ASCPT for allowing him to work with the best and the brightest clinical scientists: "The late Lewis Sheiner was a major inspiration in teaching us to always focus on finding the 'true answer.'" His volunteer efforts have also afforded him the "unique opportunity to collaborate with clinical pharmacology leaders from academia, industry and government, and the ASCPT staff in a way that might otherwise not have been possible."

Thank you, Dr. Grudzinskas, for your valuable leadership, your continued efforts as a member of the Scientific Program Committee, and your commitment to ASCPT and the discipline of clinical pharmacology!
