ASCPT Member of the Month
The ASCPT Member of the Month is a forum to recognize and thank a member of ASCPT who has supported the Society's endeavors. Each month on its web site, ASCPT highlights one member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty! We also highlight the Member of the Month, along with two other members, in each issue of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. We hope you will enjoy learning about fellow members and as always, encourage your participation in Society events and activities. ASCPT is proud to recognize Dr. Michelle Rudek as the October Member of the Month. Dr. Rudek is an Assistant Professor at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She joined ASCPT in 1998 and has remained a member because she believes the Society "provides an opportunity to network with colleagues who truly understand and value the discipline of clinical pharmacology. The annual meetings also provide an opportunity to stay abreast of the evolving field not only within your specific area but the field as a whole." Her clinical interests include investigating the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of anticancer drugs. Dr. Rudek has volunteered many hours to the Society; she reviews for Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, serves on the Coordinating Committee on Scientific Sections as a Vice Chair for the Oncology Scientific Section, and participates in the ONC, MOL, and PPP Scientific Sections. Dr. Rudek is well versed in cancer therapeutics and has presented at a number of scientific meetings. She highlighted tumor pharmacokinetics at the 2008 Annual Meeting during the "Drug Delivery and Tissue Pharmacokinetics" workshop, for which she also acted as Chair. Thank you, Dr. Rudek, for your valuable leadership and continued commitment to ASCPT and the discipline of clinical pharmacology!
