Alastair Wood and Kathleen Giacomini Named to IOM
(Alexandria, VA) — ASCPT Members Alastair Wood, MD and Kathleen Giacomini, PhD were named to the Institute of Medicine on October 9, 2006.

Established in 1970 under the charter of the National Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Medicine provides independent, objective, evidence-based advice to policymakers, health professionals, the private sector and the public. The Institute of Medicine is unique for its structure as both an honorific membership organization and an advisory organization. Total IOM membership is now 1,651.
Alastair Wood is the Managing Director of Symphony Capital LLC, in New York, NY. Alastair has been a member of the Society since 1979 and has been active as a member of the Board of Directors and prior Chair of the Editorial Committee.

Kathy Giacomini is Professor and Chair, Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences, University of California, San Francisco. Kathy has been a member of ASCPT since 1987 and currently serves as the Chair of the Scientific Awards Committee.
