Ivy Song, PhD, Senior Director, Global Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics, SHIRE Pharmaceuticals (now part of Takeda), Lexington, Massachusetts
As a scientist with a background in pharmacokinetics and deep passion for clinical pharmacology and developing innovative medicines for patients in need, Dr. Song saw becoming a member of ASCPT as a natural path for her career development. In 2006, her former manager introduced her to ASCPT and Dr. Song attended the Annual Meeting. At the Meeting she “immediately felt [she] had a home.”
Dr. Song has enjoyed many aspects of her ASCPT membership, including the Annual Meeting, opportunities to network with fellow clinical pharmacologists, and access to Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics
), which is considered one of the most prestigious journals in the field of clinical pharmacology. CPT
is her go‐to journal to learn about new advances, methodologies, and applications of clinical pharmacology in drug development. That resource has helped her come up with innovative solutions that she can apply to the projects she is working on. Every time that Dr. Song comes back to the Annual Meeting, she feels energized and better equipped with new ideas on helping her company to advance medicine creatively. At the 2019 Annual Meeting, Dr. Song was invited to speak as part of a session devoted to drug repurposing. This provided her the opportunity to give back to the Society by sharing her own success story and drug development experience.
Dr. Song has been a member of ASCPT since 2007.
