What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
I believe that we can always improvise and our best is yet to come, but I am proud of my accomplishment during my PhD thesis to get a preclinical brain cancer model established and also be recognized for the work which got the best manuscript award.
What is the most important leadership lesson you have learned the hard way?
Leadership also means that sometimes we need to make some difficult decisions, and implementing those may not be easy and it is not always possible to make all your team members happy all the time. But supporting the team when such hard decisions are made is also an essential leadership quality and many times is learned the hard way.
Who has inspired you in your career?
My PhD mentor, Professor Quentin Smith, and the globally recognized scientist, Professor Yuichi Sugiyama, have been a continuous source of inspiration throughout my career.
What is your favorite Society memory?
Publishing a review article with Professor Sugiyama, Professor Kusuhara, and Dr. Dave Rodriguez in Clincial Pharmacology & Therapeutics is my favorite memory so far.
When you aren’t working, how do you spend your free time?
In my free time, I am either playing with my 7‐year‐old daughter or cooking for my wife and daughter.
How do you keep focused and motivated?
I like working out and exercising when I am stressed. Sometimes I take a break from work. This helps keep me focused. The thought that my work is making a difference in the lives of patients across the world keeps me motivated to work harder and deliver on the science I am working on.
