What does being the 2024 Malle Jurima-Romet mid-career leadership award recipient mean to you?
Dr. Jurima-Romet was an exceptional leader in clinical pharmacology, and I am tremendously honored to have received this award created in her name. I am grateful to Julie Johnson, PharmD, for serving as my mentor and role model for effective leadership and to all of those who put their trust in me as a leader.
What was your favorite part about attending the Annual Meeting?
I thoroughly enjoyed the programming at the ASCPT 2024 Annual Meeting. A particular highlight was the Dolores Shockley Award Lecture by Dr. Catriona Waitt. Her story touched my heart, and her passion for improving drug therapy for underserved patients was inspiring.
When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
When I am not working, I enjoy gardening, running (slowly), and most of all, spending time with my family.
What was your childhood dream job?
I always wanted to be a pharmacist. My grandfather was a pharmacist who owned a drug store in Metropolis, Illinois. I have fond memories of visiting the pharmacy as a child. I too worked as a community pharmacist for several years before pursuing a clinical pharmacy and research pathway. My pharmacy experience has been invaluable in informing my research.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I am a fan of Formula 1 racing.
Dr. Cavallari has been a member of ASCPT since 2004.
