What does being recognized as a Presidential Trainee mean to you?
I am overjoyed to have been selected to receive the ASCPT 2022 David J. Goldstein Trainee Award and a Presidential Trainee. As a trainee, I believe that visibility and recognition within the ASCPT community are extremely beneficial. I would like to express my gratitude to the Society for its unwavering support of trainee research and development.

Who has inspired you in your career?
I would say that my mother had an influence on my career choice. My mother worked tirelessly every day of her life as a Vietnamese immigrant, and yet I never heard her complain about being exhausted or overworked. She instilled in me the value of a positive reputation, curiosity, and service to others.

When you aren’t working, how do you spend your free time?
My free time is spent with my two toy poodle puppies and traveling to California, Maryland, and Texas with my girlfriend to visit relatives and friends.

How do you keep focused and motivated?
I believe that curiosity helps me maintain focus and motivation. I am constantly intrigued by the results of my experiments and the potential implications of my research. As a result, these factors encouraged me to continue my research career.

Nam has been a member of ASCPT since 2020.
