Focus:
Applying clinical pharmacology and translational medicine principles and methodology to improve and achieve equity in the use of therapeutics and health for people worldwide.
Scope:
  • Adding a Global Health dimension to all ASCPT activities.
  • Provide a networking platform for all members involved in Global Health within their field.
Impact:
Promote innovative science to accelerate development of novel drugs globally.

Description: This webinar will focus on the integrated research and development methods utilized by the Department of Defense for acquiring medical countermeasures.  Major Jeff Froude will discuss historical success of the therapeutic developments by DTRA during the Ebola outbreak and how these lessons learned can be utilized in the future  for both defense threats as well as global health countermeasure development. Dr. Kern will discuss how the Gates Foundation is working with their partners to use model-informed drug development techniques to advance the development of anti-infective agents in global health.  With specific emphasis on malaria, tuberculosis, and other neglected diseases, this section will highlight challenges to new drug development for these conditions and opportunities being implemented that address these challenges and improve the potential for creating successful therapeutic solutions.
