Why did you submit your abstract for presentation at the ASCPT 2022 Annual Meeting?
As a Student/Trainee member of ASCPT, I believed that attending the ASCPT 2022 Annual Meeting would provide me with a great and unique experience. This prestigious and important meeting gathers scientists from different backgrounds across the globe. Being from a pharmacy background, it would be a great opportunity to meet with clinicians, clinical pharmacologists and basic and translational pharmacology scientists who are interested in my research and discuss the translational impact and the applications of my work. These discussions could provide me more insights as a trainee on how to communicate science with scientists from different backgrounds and to further improve my research and hypotheses and ideas.

Actually attending the meeting was a tremendous benefit. I was glad to receive positive and constructive feedback on the two abstracts I presented. I had the chance to access many amazing and exciting sessions, especially those targeting trainees and early-stage professionals. Moreover, attending the meeting gave me the opportunity to view many excellent posters discussing the current trends in clinical pharmacology and presenting emerging and innovative therapeutics modalities.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am proud of pursuing my PhD studies at the Center for Translational Medicine, University of Maryland Baltimore since this gave me the opportunity to access high quality education, do impactful research and interact with world class clinical pharmacologists.

What has been the greatest challenge in your career?
I think being able to accomplish multiple tasks at the same time is the most important and challenging skill that I had to develop during my career. This could be achieved through time management, motivation, and perseverance.

When you aren't working, how do you spend your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, going on picnics, and working out so that I can relieve my stress and keep good health.

How do you keep focused and motivated?
I maintain my motivation through reminding myself about the challenges that I was able to overcome during my previous projects and the impactful research and outstanding outcomes that I achieved at the end.

What was your childhood dream job?
I always wanted to be a pharmacist due to their great role in ensuring safe and effective use of drugs and maintaining the health and welfare of society.

Ahmed has been a member of ASCPT since 2020.
