What are you looking forward to in your role as Regulatory Science (RS) Community Vice Chair?
I'm thrilled to continue building on our Community's efforts to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing. Regulatory Science plays a critical role in every aspect of the drug development process, offering endless opportunities to engage across disciplines. I am excited to drive this work forward alongside our current chair, Liang Zhao, PhD, our past chair, Elin Matsson, PhD, and the rest of our dedicated Community.
Who has inspired you in your career?
There are many! First and foremost, my parents. Though neither is in science, they have always encouraged me to follow my passions, instilling the adage, “If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life.” I have also been deeply inspired by my fellowship mentors, Drs. Kathleen Giacomini and Rada Savic, whose dedication to scientific innovation continually motivates me to pursue meaningful, high-impact research.
Do you have a favorite tip or trick for clinical practice or research that you want to share with fellow members?
When starting a research project, try explaining it to a friend (outside of your field). It is tempting to dive straight into the details with your colleagues, but clearly articulating the broader purpose is crucial before focusing on specifics. This approach not only clarifies your thinking but can also spark outside-the-box ideas.
When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
Traveling! Earlier this year, I had an incredible experience visiting Japan exploring Tokyo, Kyoto, and Mt. Fuji. I also enjoy traveling closer to home in California, with frequent trips to some of my favorite places like Lake Tahoe and Yosemite.
