What are you looking forward to in your role as Early Development & Drug Safety (EDDS) community vice chair?
I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues to propose and implement impactful activities for the EDDS Community. Early development is crucial in the drug development process, as it lays the foundation for the entire program. Over the past few years, EDDS has successfully hosted numerous internal discussions and webinars on this topic. As a member of the leadership team, I look forward to helping EDDS continue to serve as a valuable resource and forum for scientific discussion among our members.
What has been the greatest challenge in your career?
The greatest challenge I faced was transitioning from industry to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where the scope of my role significantly expanded. As a clinical pharmacology reviewer, I had to manage submissions at various stages, from IND openings to Post-Marketing Requirements. This required a deep understanding of both clinical pharmacology and regulatory sciences, as well as enhanced multitasking skills. Despite the challenges, I value my experience at the FDA for pushing me to grow and develop in this field.
What was your childhood dream job?
As a child, I was captivated by stories of aliens and often dreamed of becoming an astronaut so I could experience their magical worlds. Although I eventually pursued a different career path, my curiosity about extraterrestrial intelligence and the potential for groundbreaking discoveries in that field remains strong.
When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
When I am not working, I like to spend my free time hiking, gardening, and enjoying moments with family and friends.
