About ASCPT Print Version

Objectives of the Society

Our Mission

(The reason we exist; what we are in business to do)

ASCPT is the leading forum for the exchange, development, and integration of translational science into the drug development continuum from discovery to safe and effective medication use.

Our Vision

(What we hope will happen as we fulfill our mission over time)

Clinical pharmacology is recognized and serves as the premier discipline at the forefront of the discovery, development, regulation, and use (DDRU) of safe and effective medications necessary for the prevention and treatment of illness.

Our Core Principles

(What we value and what drives us)

  • Our uniqueness lies in our expertise along the continuum of clinical pharmacology that is necessary for the discovery, development, regulation and utilization of safe and effective therapy.
  • The quality and integrity of research is essential to effective healthcare.
  • Clinical pharmacology must be recognized by scientists, healthcare professionals, and consumers as an essential discipline required to ensure quality patient care.
  • All healthcare professionals and biomedical scientists involved in human pharmacology should be trained and educated in the principles of clinical pharmacology.
  • As a broad discipline, ASCPT believes that to achieve the full exchange and utilization of scientific information, we must recognize the rich diversity of individuals who comprise it.

Primary Forums We Provide to Facilitate Scientific Exchange

  • ASCPT's prestigious journal, Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics
  • ASCPT's Annual Scientific Meeting
  • Educational Scientific Symposia
  • Scientific Sections representing the broad range of Clinical Pharmacology
