Calls for Session Proposals and Awards Nominations Now Live!
ASCPT has now launched two of our most important member efforts for the 2021 Annual Meeting, the Call for Proposals and the Call for Award Nominations.

Assist ASCPT in crafting a truly cutting-edge and novel 2021 Annual Meeting scientific program by submitting your most engaging session ideas. Think outside the box and beyond podium and craft a session proposal that will engage your audience through novel presentation types and audience Q&A. Review the Call for Proposals for further details on all sessions types and the revised 2021 session budgets. The deadline to submit a session proposal is Thursday, June 4, 2020, 4:00 PM EST

ASCPT is also looking for clinical pharmacologists and translational scientists who have impacted our important fields either through research or mentoring the next generation of our leaders. Review the awards categories, then submit a nomination for a deserving colleague. A single letter of support signed my two or more co-nominators that offers an informed perspective of the candidate’s accomplishments is encouraged. The deadline to submit an awards nomination is Thursday, July 9, 2020, 4:00 PM EST.

Questions about proposal submission and award nominations can be directed to meetings@ascpt.org or (703) 836-6981 ext. 108 or 109.
ASCPT Virtual Platform Update
As the shift to virtual learning opportunities continues to increase in popularity, we wanted to take a moment to share some security developments on the Zoom platform given ASCPT utilizes Zoom for meetings and webinar presentations.

Zoom’s executive team recently released an open letter to their customers to address recent security concerns and how they have been making major progress to offer a virtual platform for safe and secure meetings. From data encryption, watermarking, enhanced host controls and more, Zoom is constantly working to update their system and educate their clients so organizations like ASCPT can offer the latest research and updates to members like you!

Want to test your system’s capability with Zoom? Visit https://zoom.com/test or visit Zoom’s extensive Help Center for further troubleshooting and assistance.

Register for the Virtual William B. Abram’s Lecture to be Held on May 14, 2020
Registration is now open for the 2020 William B. Abrams lecture, to be held virtually on Thursday, May 14, 2020, 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM ET. The 2020 lecturer is Mary Relling, PharmD, Professor, St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Dr. Relling’s talk, titled “Clinical Implementation of Pharmacogenetics” will provide an overview of the Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC®), developed in 2009, to write, curate, and update freely available, peer-reviewed, and detailed gene/drug pharmacogenetic clinical practice guidelines with accompanying computational tables to facilitate the appropriate use of pharmacogenetic tests in clinical care. In addition, the implementation of the CPIC guidelines in a clinical protocol at St. Jude’s, PG4KDS, with an aim to preemptively test all eligible children at the institute and implement all CPIC guidelines by placing test results, with the necessary clinical decision support tools to guide prescribing, in an electronic health record will be discussed.

The William B. Abrams Lecture is a joint educational initiative of ASCPT and the FDA. The lecture series was established in 1999 to honor William B. Abrams, MD, an ASCPT president from 1975 to 1976, and a special consultant to the FDA who worked to establish the CDER Staff College.
