CALL FOR PAPERS

Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (CPT), a journal of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (ASCPT) and the premier publication in clinical pharmacology, is inviting submissions for a special themed issue on “Transporters” that is scheduled for publication in September of 2022.

The Transporters themed issue will focus on the role of transporters in clinical pharmacology, from drug discovery and drug development to implications for clinical practice. Example topics that are in scope include, but are not limited to:
  • Approaches identifying novel or targeted therapeutics associated with transporters;
  • Novel insights regarding the molecular mechanisms of regulation, expression, or modulation of transporters;
  • Experimental, observational, or real-world studies on the impact of transporters on medication efficacy and toxicity;
  • Discovery or assessment of biomarkers for drug-transporter interactions;
  • Functional genomics of transporters, transporter polymorphisms in pharmacogenomic studies;
  • Regulatory science perspectives on transporters;
  • Combinatorial approaches of incorporating transporters with other clinical factors; and
  • Novel methods to modulate or assay transporter activity, e.g., 3-d cultures, exosomes.
We especially encourage papers focusing on understudied populations (children, pregnant women, minority populations), patients with end-organ disease, and trials of implementation of genotyping for transporter polymorphisms in patient care.  Finally, we seek manuscripts that employ novel computational methods that include transporter activity or transporter biomarkers in pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic models.

Submissions of original research are particularly encouraged, but reviews, position/white papers or shorter perspectives are also welcome. Educational, tutorial-style papers will also be considered.

Please contact cpteditor@ascpt.org for details about manuscript types and format requirements, or review our Author Guidelines here.

To be considered for publication in this high-profile themed issue, manuscripts should be submitted via the online submission and tracking system by April 1, 2022.

If you would like to make a pre-submission inquiry, please contact the CPT editorial office at cpteditor@ascpt.org.
