What does being recognized as a Presidential Trainee mean to you?
Being recognized as a Presidential Trainee Awardee is very special. Coming from a cellular and molecular research background, it is an honor to see my work and training being recognized with the ASCPT Presidential Trainee Award.

Who has inspired you in your career?
My family, wife, all my mentors and colleagues have inspired me in my career.

What has been the greatest challenge in your career?
The greatest challenge in my career so far has been transitioning from basic science research to translational research. Going from bench-based work to understanding how best to utilize clinical data along with functional studies has been challenging yet highly satisfying.

When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
I spend my free time with my wife and family. We love to cook and spend time gardening together.

Dr. Shastri has been a member of ASCPT since 2021.
