The ASCPT Journal Family is pleased to open the call for applications for Editors-in-Training (EIT) for the 2023-2024 term. Launched in 2019, the Editor-in-Training program continues to be a unique opportunity for early career scientists to be a part of the core editorial teams of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology, and Clinical and Translational Science. EITs will be involved in the day-to-day manuscript consideration processes (including peer-review and decision-making), assist with strategic planning, and will be mentored by experienced members of the journals’ editorial teams. Building on strategies implemented by the first three cohorts, the 2023-2024 EITs will assist with social media strategy for the journals as well as engagement with the ASCPT Early Career Community. Selected EITs will have the opportunity to engage with journal leadership mid-term to receive and offer feedback to date and discuss opportunities for growth during their remaining term.

Each ASCPT journal will run independent searches for 1-2 EITs. The successful candidates will be outstanding early career scientists with a passion for our discipline, science, patients, drug discovery and development, and peer-reviewed publishing. Candidates are not required to have any editorial experience; however, we are looking for candidates with an outstanding publication and peer review record (commensurate with career stage) and a strong motivation to get involved in a family of top peer-reviewed journals. Qualified applicants will be in the early career stage (defined as within the first 5 years of practice) and have at least one year of career experience in clinical pharmacology, translational science, pharmacometrics, systems pharmacology, or a related field. Candidates should either be a current member of ASCPT or be prepared to join the Society if selected. Ideally, candidates should be active in the ASCPT Early Career Community or an equivalent network and have some experience with peer review. Candidates should have the skills and vision to take the social media presence of the ASCPT journals to the next level. Editor-in-Training roles for each journal are a one-year education and training opportunities for the selected candidates, and as such, no compensation will be provided.

To be considered for an Editor-in-Training position, please send your CV and a one-page letter of interest to Elise Laffman-Johnson at elise@ascpt.org by COB, August 18, 2023. Applicants may only apply with one journal and must indicate their journal of choice in their cover letter. Individuals who are active participants of the Leadership Accelerator Program are not eligible for the Editor-in-Training Program. Interviews will be held with select applicants in mid-August. Appointments will be confirmed for a September 18, 2023, start.

Candidates interested in applying for CTS and PSP should hold August 21-22, 2023 for possible interviews. Those applying to CPT should anticipate interviews being held August 31-September 1.
