ASCPT is pleased to announce that Laura Ramsey, PhD, has been selected the inaugural recipient of the Darrell Abernethy Early Stage Investigator Award. Established in 2018, this award is intended to foster the growth of early career scientists and honor the memory of Darrell Abernethy, MD, PhD, a long-time ASCPT member and leader in clinical pharmacology who was a devoted advocate for the discipline.
Dr. Ramsey will receive a $10,000 grant to be used in her research on anti-arthritic efficacy of methotrexate in mice expressing the SLOC1B1*14 allele. She will be formally recognized as the 2019 Darrell Abernethy Early Stage Investigator Award recipient at the 2019 ASCPT Annual Meeting, and will be welcomed back to the 2020 Annual Meeting to present on her work in this area.
Dr. Ramsey is an assistant professor at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center where she works closely with the Divisions of Clinical Pharmacology, Human Genetics, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Center for Autoimmune Genomics and Etiology, and the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute to employ pharmacogenetics approaches in clinical and translational studies.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Ramsey on this achievement.
