What Does Being Recognized as a Presidential Trainee Mean to You?
It is an honor to receive an award from this excellent and welcoming organization. I am excited to have been able to share my work with attendees during the ASCPT 2022 Annual Meeting.
Who Has Inspired You in Your Career?
I remember going for a walk with my aunt on a seaside promenade near where I grew up. I spoke to her about the challenges of navigating interviews and decisions in the early stages of my career. She advised me to always stay true to myself and, while this might seem to hold you back in the short term, a more authentic approach serves you in a long term. The older I get, the more I find that to be true.
When You Are Not Working How Do You Spend Your Time?
I recently became interested in rock climbing and try to go as often as I can. I find the mental and physical challenges that come with it very stimulating. Other than that, I enjoy reading novels and chatting with friends and family.
How Do You Keep Focused and Motivated?
I keep motivated by continuing to take on new challenges in my career and making the act of learning a lifelong endeavor. I keep focused by reminding myself of the impact of my work on scientific knowledge and public health.
