What does being recognized as a Presidential Trainee mean to you?
Receiving this recognition is an inspiration and an honor for me to keep moving and working in my research field. I have been interested in cancer research since I was an undergraduate. Now, this is a great opportunity for me to continue pursuing my dream and step up to a higher level in my research field.
What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
One professional accomplishment I am most proud of receiving is the Presidential Trainee award. After I received the email from ASCPT, I shared it with my advisor, Dr. Yan Gong, and other members of her lab. They have provided me with valuable guidance for my graduate study and work – without their support and encouragement, the abstract would not have been possible.
What has been the greatest challenge in your career?
I am a graduate student, but also a pharmacist. Thus, the greatest challenge in my career is how to balance my study, my work, and my family life. To do this, I need to keep up with my schedules with careful planning of each aspect of my study, work, and personal life. As a pharmacist, I see my patients every day, and how to provide them with extraordinary patient care is the greatest challenge in my profession because each patient has their own story. I hope to have more time to discuss their medications with them to improve their well-being.
When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
When I am not working, I like to spend my free time exercising, cooking, and practicing meditation. Maintaining good health is my top priority as I need to balance my time for my work, study, and family. I also enjoy cooking because this is leisure time where I can relax and take care of my family. Meditation is one of my favorite exercises. By practicing meditation regularly, I am able to improve my concentration on my work and study.
