CALL FOR PAPERS

Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (CPT) is inviting submissions for a special themed issue on Therapeutic Innovations in Rare and Orphan Diseases that is scheduled for publication in December of 2024.

The Therapeutic Innovations in Rare and Orphan Diseases themed issue will focus on showcasing clinical pharmacology and translational science research innovation in the development of therapeutics for rare and orphan diseases. The articles in scope would be focused on:
  • non-oncological and oncological rare and orphan diseases
  • defined subsets of common diseases
  • other neglected diseases and conditions with limited therapeutic options

The focus is on integrating clinical pharmacology, pharmacogenomic, modeling and simulation, and translational science principles and tools to advance the development of therapeutics to overcome the scientific challenges associated with developing drugs for rare and orphan diseases. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • patient centric drug development
  • pediatric rare diseases
  • novel therapeutic modalities
  • bespoke therapeutics
  • application of translational sciences
  • application of model informed drug development
  • leveraging multiple data sources (e.g., RWD, natural history, registries) to support rare disease drug development
  • drug repurposing

Submissions of clinical trials and other original research are particularly encouraged, but reviews, position/white papers or shorter perspectives are also welcome. Educational, tutorial-style papers will also be considered.

Please contact cpteditor@ascpt.org for details about manuscript types and format requirements, or review our Author Guidelines here.

To be considered for publication in this high-profile themed issue, manuscripts should be submitted via the online submission and tracking system by May 15, 2024.
