What does being the Oncology (ONC) Community Co-Vice Chair mean to you?
By fostering internal and external collaborations, we can facilitate interactive scientific discussions on key current issues in oncology and share best practices. This allows us to leverage clinical pharmacology principles to expedite the development of oncology drugs. In my current leadership role, I have the opportunity to contribute to these collaborations and work with pioneers in the field. The invaluable opportunity to learn from these talents and drive initiatives truly excites me.
What is the most important leadership lesson you have learned the hard way?
Keeping curiosity is, in my mind, the most important leadership lesson I have learned so far. Curiosity not only enables you to acquire new skills and stay up-to-date with cutting-edge topics in your professional field but also inspires others in the group to learn new things. As a result, the entire team becomes a learning organization.
What is your favorite society memory?
In June, we successfully launched a joint webinar with the DIA China Clinical Pharmacology Community titled “Dose Optimization Requirement for Oncology Drug Combinations: Insights from the US and China.” Participants shared their positive feedback both live and offline, making us feel gratified that we could benefit the clinical pharmacology groups in China and the United States. This success for both communities encourages us to pursue more interactions on topics of mutual interest.
When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
I like running. Continuing to run allows me to connect with my true self, providing a break from daily work and a sense of accomplishment when I complete a targeted distance. Additionally, running keeps my mind active, often leading to great ideas about work and life.
What was your childhood dream job?
I once dreamed of becoming a policeman to save lives and ensure people's safety. Now, I am fulfilling a similar role by developing drugs to save lives. In some ways, this makes my dream come true.
