What does being the Pharmacometrics & Pharmacokinetics (PMK) Community Vice Chair mean to you?
I have been part of the PMK Community for a long time, and it has been a cornerstone of my professional journey. I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve as Vice Chair for the PMK Community—it is both an honor and a responsibility. This role allows me to give back to the community that has shaped my growth, while also helping to foster collaboration, innovation, and mentorship among fellow members. I am excited to contribute to initiatives that elevate our field and support the next generation.
What has been the greatest challenge in your career?
One of the most defining challenges in my career was transitioning from a retail pharmacist role into the pharmaceutical industry. Although I had a PhD, I chose to pursue a Master's degree in Pharmacometrics to pivot into a new field while working full-time as a pharmacist and raising two young children, who were just one and three years old at the time. Balancing academic demands, professional responsibilities, and family was incredibly intense, but also deeply rewarding. That period tested my limits and reaffirmed my commitment to growth, ultimately shaping the path I am on today.
When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
Outside of work, I find joy and balance in simple things. My children keep me energized and grounded, constantly reminding me of life's most meaningful moments. I also love being outdoors—whether it is hiking, biking, or playing tennis, staying active helps me recharge. Recently, I have developed a passion for vegetable gardening, which has been a grounding experience.
How do you keep focused and motivated?
For my physical training goals, I always use the phrase “No Excuses.” It is simple but powerful—and it never fails to push me forward when I need that extra motivation. Professionally, I often remind myself of Billie Jean King's quote: ‘Pressure is a privilege.’ It is a mindset that helps me reframe challenges as opportunities. Working in clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics, we are in a privileged position to contribute meaningfully to science and patient care. That sense of purpose keeps me focused and driven.
