Education Through a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Lens
With the increasing awareness of the need to focus and tailor research for underrepresented populations, the ASCPT Family of Journals is pleased to offer a variety of educational opportunities to broaden your knowledge of this topic.
Two upcoming webinars will focus on the medical and translational science needs of marginalized populations, beginning with Nita Limdi’s, PharmD, PhD, presentation on Pharmacogenomics and Race Conscious Medicine on September 22, 2021 (register
here>). The following day, September 23, Lauren Cirrincione, MPH, PharmD, and Kai Huang, BS, will discuss their recently published review on transgender medicine during a webinar titled, “Transgender Medicine: Where Are We Now, and Where Do We Need to Go?” moderated by
Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics Editor-in-Chief, Piet van der Graaf, PhD, PharmD, (register
here). Registration for both presentations is available for members and non-members, complimentary, and each will be followed by a live Q&A session. Share with non-member colleagues and friends who may be interested in these topics!
Recordings of both webinars will also be made available to registrants shortly after the live presentations.
If you don’t have time for a full-length webinar, two ClinPharmPod podcast episodes also offer thoughtful and informative discussions of underrepresented populations. Moderated by Erica Woodahl, PhD, “COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy and Sociodemographics” details the struggles to encourage vaccine uptake among the Black population in Arkansas, and Erica’s discussion of “Pharmacogenetics and Underrepresented Populations” with Tiana Luczak, PharmD, and Jacob Brown, PharmD, will be available shortly.
