What does being the Student and Trainee (ST) community vice chair mean to you?
Being the Student and Trainee Community Vice Chair means not just being a leader within the Community, but also being a voice and resource for students and trainees, as well as an advocate for students and trainees on their respective journeys.

What are you looking forward to in your role as Student and Trainee (ST) community vice chair?
In my role as ST Vice Chair, I am looking forward to collaborating with other leaders in ASCPT, helping to produce engaging and innovative content for the Student and Trainee Community, and creating and supporting new initiatives to promote career and professional development in our community members.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
The professional accomplishment that I am most proud of is receiving a position as a Postdoctoral Clinical Pharmacology Fellow. This fellowship has provided me with the opportunity to not only grow professionally but to expand my knowledge in clinical pharmacology, develop new hard skills like pharmacometrics, refine soft skills, and contribute to the scientific landscape with creative research projects.

Do you have a favorite tip or trick for clinical practice that you want to share with fellow members?
My favorite tip for research (and also life) is to take every failure and use it as a learning experience. Not every research idea will become a project, not every experiment will produce a positive result, and not every paper will be accepted; however, there is something to be learned from experiences that may be labeled as “failures.” Failure does not have to be negative, it can be turned into a valuable experience and utilized for growth.

What is your favorite society memory?
My favorite Society memory is attending the ASCPT 2024 Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting gave me the opportunity to experience a beautiful new place and to gain greater exposure to clinical pharmacology through inspiring scientific sessions and networking opportunities with individuals in the field. I particularly enjoyed the networking breakfasts where I was able to meet people from around the world, hear their perspectives about clinical pharmacology, and learn about their research activities.

Dr. Riley has been a member of ASCPT since 2023.
