Network & Community Leadership

Purpose: Coordinates the educational and programmatic activities of ASCPT’s scientific sections

  • Provide a forum for members to network and share ideas and resources
  • Determine the needs of section members
  • Develop and recommend ways that Networks & Communities can be responsive to member needs
  • Work with the Scientific Program Committee to:
    • Assist in the direction of the scientific programming at the Annual Meeting, submitting symposia and workshops for consideration
    • Identify, solicit and invite speakers for the Annual Meeting
    • Coordinate the solicitation of abstracts from the Networks & Communities for the Annual Meeting
    • Identify abstract reviewers from each Network
  • Respond to requests for information specific to the Networks & Community expertise
  • Solicit potential members
  • Recommend, review and monitor criteria for the formation and dissolution of Communities
  • Recommend nominees for ASCPT’s scientific awards

Time commitment: 8-12 hours of meetings/calls; 2-5 hours outside of meetings

Typical schedule:
Monthyl and bi-monthly conference calls annually
2 hour meeting at the Annual Meeting
Email communication throughout the year, Website & Social Media presence

Other considerations: Each member of the committee acts as a liaison to Networks & Communities, communicating or soliciting feedback as necessary from the Networks & Communities’ leaders. With the recent re-organization, the time commitment needed from this year’s members might exceed the typical amount.
