An Important Reminder from ASCPT
With the ASCPT 2018 Annual Meeting right around the corner, we remind you that if contacted about purchasing the attendee list or securing housing, please do not make arrangements and alert ASCPT!

With the Annual Meeting just weeks away, we have seen an increase in the number of scam-type messages related to the sale of our attendee list and housing at the Hilton International. If contacted by anyone other than ASCPT about our attendee list or housing, please do not make arrangements and alert ASCPT by email to meetings@ascpt.org.

PAREXEL Product Theater at Annual Meeting
PAREXEL would like to invite all Annual Meeting attendees to their special presentation, EMA Safety Risk Identification/Mitigation Guideline 2018, being presented at this year’s Annual Meeting at 12:30 PM EDT, Friday, March 23, 2018!

Plan to join Matthias Kruse, MD, as he discusses the systematic approach to evaluating nonclinical data, protocol design and other key aspects to mitigate risk in First in Human (FIH) studies. The new EMA guidance, introduced February 2018, for identifying and mitigating the safety risks will be reviewed for early clinical studies. Laura Iavarone will review the role of modeling and simulation, including the PK and PKPD translational aspect of preclinical data to humans, selection of starting doses and definition of exposure-limit criteria within protocols. Boxed lunches (redeemable with your lunch voucher) and Grandma’s Pantry desserts will be provided. Space is limited to 50 attendees, so secure your seat today!

Don’t miss the Journal Review Club on-site at the ASCPT 2018 Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL!

We are excited to announce that another Journal Review Club session will be held at the ASCPT 2018 Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL. Geared towards members in the first few years of their career or who would like to learn more about peer review, Deanna L. Kroetz, PhD, will lead this interactive session on the recently published article “Electronic Health Record Phenotypes for Precision Medicine: Perspectives and Caveats From Treatment of Breast Cancer at a Single Institution”, which will include insights from the author about the impact and importance of peer-review.

Do you see what our reviewers did? Participants will receive a copy of the article as it was submitted to the journal and will come to the session prepared with their own comments on the manuscript. The engaging session will discuss potential issues discovered by the participants, examine how the authors addressed the reviewer comments, and answer questions you’ve been wondering about how peer review works from the Editor’s perspective.

When: 7:00 – 8:00 AM, Thursday, March 22, 2018
Where: Room Key West B at the ASCPT 2018 Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL

Space for this event is limited, so please secure your seat by sending your RSVP to Emma Shumeyko (emma@ascpt.org) no later than Friday, March 9th. Registration to the ASCPT 2018 Annual Meeting is required.
