Vikram Arya, PhD, Clinical Pharmacology Master Reviewer, Office of Clinical Pharmacology, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, FDA, Silver Spring, MD

For the past 15 years, Dr. Arya has worked for the Office of Clinical Pharmacology in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) at the FDA. He began as a Clinical Pharmacology Reviewer and since that time he has worked as a Senior Clinical Pharmacology Reviewer, a Senior Staff Fellow, a General Health Scientist, a Pharmacologist, and now he works as a Master Reviewer. He has been recognized for his work at CDER and the FDA several times. During his career he has been a mentor, an author, and a presenter.

Dr. Arya learned about ASCPT after interacting with his colleagues and attending the Annual Meeting. ASCPT provides a unique platform for vibrant scientific exchange between various stakeholders and an excellent opportunity to network with peers. This is what drew him to join ASCPT. He strongly believes that the Annual Meeting and other scientific events hosted by ASCPT are an excellent venue to learn about the latest cutting‐edge developments in the areas of QSP and Model Informed Drug Development and Translational Science.

Mentoring has always been important to Dr. Arya. In his own career, he has mentored Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Fellows and has mentored through the CDER Mentoring Program. He is a firm believer in the power of mentoring. Dr. Arya has observed that ASCPT offers various opportunities for mentorship, such as the Trainee Breakfast and Speed Mentoring. These programs actively mentor scientists and provide them with strategic advice on career paths, effective communication, and professional development.

Although he is new to ASCPT, Dr. Arya encourages all ASCPT members and nonmembers to continue to stay engaged with the Society beyond the Annual Meeting. He believes that “the various Networks and Communities serve as the perfect launching pad for enthusiastic and passionate exchange of innovative ideas.” For Dr. Arya, the Networks and Communities not only facilitate peer‐to‐peer interactions but also cultivate leadership and communication skills.
