The ASCPT 2020 Annual Meeting Has Been Cancelled Due to COVID-19
After significant consideration, the ASCPT Board of Director’s has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Annual Meeting.

A message was sent to all registered attendees on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, to confirm the unprecedented, but necessary, cancellation of the ASCPT 2020 Annual Meeting, which results from growing concerns about COVID-19. Click here to view the full announcement.

The Society asks for your patience and understanding as we find our way through this unfortunate situation. We also remind all attendees that they are responsible for cancelling their hotel reservation. To cancel your existing reservation with the Marriott Marquis Hotel, please call the hotel directly at 713-654-1777.

To assist ASCPT in navigating claims with insurers and vendors, we implore anyone who was required to cancel registration based on organizational travel restriction or ban, or physician recommendation, to contact meetings@ascpt.org with details.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Washington, DC, March 9-13, for the 2021 Annual Meeting.

Clinical and Translational Science Announces New Associate Editor and Wiley has Resources for Your Coronavirus Research
Join ASCPT is welcoming the newest associate editor to the leadership of Clinical and Translational Science and take advantage of Wiley’s author resources for Coronavirus research.

Clinical and Translational Science is pleased to announce the newest member of the CTS Team, Associate Editor Erica L. Woodahl, PhD.

Dr. Woodahl is an Associate Professor at the University of Montana in the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Her research focuses on precision medicine and pharmacogenomics to identify sources of interindividual variability in disease treatment and prevention (e.g., genes, environment, and lifestyle). Dr. Woodahl’s research is part of the Northwest-Alaska Pharmacogenomics Research Network (NWA-PGRN), whose goals are to engage indigenous populations in precision medicine research. Her laboratory is also focused on understanding the mechanisms by which pharmacogenomics alter the function of drug-metabolizing enzymes (e.g., cytochrome P450 drug-metabolizing enzymes), drug transporters (e.g., ATP-binding cassette transporters), and regulatory proteins that contribute to drug disposition.

Wiley Publishing Offers Coronavirus Resources
Wiley Publishing has developed a dedicated page for coronavirus research. All research is free to read as soon as it is published. In addition to the research, the page provides links to regional health authorities, a live Twitter feed, and links to all other major publishers’ dedicated coronavirus pages. A great resource for scientifically based, timely coverage of Covid-19.

Mary Relling, PharmD, Announced as 2020 William B. Abrams Lecturer
Join ASCPT and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the 2020 William B. Abrams lecture, to be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020, 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM for Dr. Relling’s presentation on “Clinical Implementation of Pharmacogenetics.”

Mary Relling, PharmD, Professor, St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Dr. Relling has been a member of ASCPT since 1989. Her lecture will provide an overview of the Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC®), developed in 2009, to write, curate, and update freely available, peer-reviewed, and detailed gene/drug pharmacogenetic clinical practice guidelines with accompanying computational tables to facilitate the appropriate use of pharmacogenetic tests in clinical care. In addition, the implementation of the CPIC guidelines in a clinical protocol at St. Jude’s, PG4KDS, with an aim to preemptively test all eligible children at the institute and implement all CPIC guidelines by placing test results, with the necessary clinical decision support tools to guide prescribing, in an electronic health record will be discussed.

Registration for the Abrams Lecture is complimentary; however, advance registration is required. Click here for details and to register and stay tuned for information on attending this special event virtually.
