Munjal Patel, PhD, Associate Scientific Director, Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology within Data Sciences Institute, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Cambridge, Massachusetts

How Do You Keep Focused and Motivated?
I keep myself focused and motivated by consistently maintaining a positive attitude. Most recently, the pandemic has taught us how to tackle multiple challenges in an efficient manner. Positive friends, colleagues, family, and mentors play a significant role behind the scenes.

What Professional Accomplishment Are You Most Proud of?
My greatest accomplishment includes my scientific contribution to model informed drug development. I am proud of myself that I have used the quantitative clinical pharmacology experience I have to make an impact on global health. I look forward to making more contributions in the field of clinical pharmacology and therapeutics.

What Are You Looking Forward to as the New Vice Chair of the Infectious Disease (INF) community?
As a new Vice Chair of the Infectious Disease (INF) Community, I am looking forward to enhancing the INF’s Community goals. This can be achieved through collaborations with individuals from industry, regulatory agencies, and academia in the Community who share a common vision of the application of clinical pharmacology and translational science to defeat infectious diseases.

When You Aren’t Working, How Do You Spend Your Free Time?
When I am not working, I spend time with my family. My kids (5 years old and 3 years old) keep me engaged in reading books, art, playing video games, sports, and LEGOs. We love outdoor activities.

Dr. Patel has been a member of ASCPT since 2017.
