What does being the 2026 Jason Morrow Award recipient mean to you?
I am honored to have received the Jason Morrow, MD, Trainee Award at the ASCPT 2026 Annual Meeting. With this year's theme “Advancing Pharmacoequity,” this recognition is especially meaningful, as it affirms my commitment to advancing health equity through my research. It serves as an encouraging testament to the potential impact of my work in promoting pharmacoequity.

What is your favorite part of being a 2026 Presidential Trainee Award Recipient?
My favorite part of being a 2026 Presidential Trainee Award Recipient is how the award celebrates different career stages for both me and my advisor, Dr. Akinyemi Oni-Orisan. For me, it is incredibly meaningful to be supported and recognized as an early career scientist. For Dr. Oni-Orisan, it represents a full-circle moment, as he was also a recipient of a Presidential Trainee Award during his PhD training.

What was the best thing about attending the ASCPT 2026 Annual Meeting?
The best part about attending the ASCPT Annual Meeting was participating in the Poster Walks. In addition to presenting my poster, I was honored that my abstract was selected as one of 10 for this session, which gave me the opportunity to share a brief overview of my work and engage in thoughtful discussions with attendees. The presentation was very well received and led to meaningful conversations with experts in the field.

When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
I consider myself a food and travel enthusiast. I enjoy visiting different cities (whether near or far) and exploring diverse cuisines. I also occasionally challenge myself to cook complex dishes from different cultures. Recently, I have started attending hot yoga classes to support both my physical and mental well-being.

What was your childhood dream job?
Having grown up in Japan, I always admired people who could speak multiple languages and travel the world. My childhood dream job was to become a flight attendant. Little did I know that I would later become proficient in English as my second language.

Nanase has been a member of ASCPT since 2025.
