Oleksandr Kashuba, PhD, Expert, State Expert Center of the Health Ministry of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine
How and where did you train?
In 1992, I joined the medical faculty of the Bogomolets National Medical University, graduating in 1999 with a degree in medicine. From 1999 to 2000, I successfully passed an internship, and from 2000 to 2002, I successfully completed a clinical residency in internal medicine.
I have worked in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology with the Laboratory of Functional Diagnostics of National Scientific Center. I completed a dissertation at the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. I earned my PhD in medicine – in Ukraine, this is a Candidate of Medical Sciences.
What are your experiences in clinical pharmacology and translational medicine in Ukraine?
I have experience in Drug Efficacy and Safety investigations in the Middle and Late Stage of Drug/Medicine Life Cycle including Post-Authorization Safety Studies (in particular, Post-Marketing Drug Safety Surveillance).
What is your favorite Society memory?
I enjoy participating in frequent webinars.
What was your childhood dream job?
When I was a child, I had several dreams about my future profession. I imagined myself as a doctor/physician, pharmacist, veterinarian, teacher, priest, psychologist, agronomist, farmer, policeman, inquirer, judge, attorney, film or television actor, writer, and poet. Nature endowed me with a musical ear, but not a voice, otherwise I would have become an opera soloist. When I imagined myself as a doctor/physician, I saw myself in the role of a doctor who treats patients with the help of pharmacotherapy.
What's one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I consider myself an introvert with my own misanthropy. I can hardly be called an “open book” for others. I have been like that since childhood. I have never told anyone my secret thoughts or true intentions. I do not think people have been able to create a real socio-psychological portrait of me. I think that I will be able to surprise those people who have created their own idea of me for themselves, which is unlikely to correspond to reality.
