Why did you submit an abstract for the ASCPT 2024 Annual Meeting?
I chose to present my work at the ASCPT Annual Meeting because it is renowned for its comprehensive focus on patient-centric clinical pharmacology, from discovery to recovery. The theme of the ASCPT meeting aligns closely with my research interests, that is, population pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and provides a unique platform to engage with experts in translational and precision medicine. The meeting promotes networking opportunities and helps the attendees engage with researchers from diverse communities making it an ideal venue for presenting my findings. The exchange of ideas during presentations, coffees, lunches, and dinners facilitates professional as well as personal growth.
What does being a 2024 Presidential Trainee mean to you?
Being named a 2024 Presidential Trainee is an extraordinary honor that signifies recognition of my research and its potential impact within the field of clinical pharmacology. It reinforces my commitment to pursuing excellence in scientific research and emphasizes the importance of advancing genetic drug product development with the help of population pharmacokinetics. This award not only validates my current research efforts but also motivates me to continue contributing to the field, aiming to influence the development of innovative methods that would facilitate the development of more affordable and accessible treatments for the wider population.
Who has inspired you in your career?
Since my childhood, I have been profoundly inspired by my parents, both of whom are dedicated academicians. Their passion for education and research has shaped my career path. The way they have been balancing their professional, personal, and social lives is admirable. Additionally, my thesis advisor, Professor Isadore Kanfer remains passionately engaged in research and I aspire to emulate these qualities. I have also been lucky enough to be mentored and trained by Dr. Murray Ducharme and Dr. Bozena Michniak, who are well-known in their fields. I admire their professionalism and work ethic. Lastly, the unwavering support from my peers has been invaluable, motivating every step of my journey.
What was your childhood dream job?
As a child, I always dreamed of becoming a healthcare professional who could contribute significantly to the overall well-being of patients. This aspiration has directly influenced my current research focus, which aims to enhance patient access to affordable medicines. This dream reflects my lifelong commitment to healthcare and my desire to make a tangible impact in the medical field. It gives me immense satisfaction that the progress of my career is aligning with my childhood dream.
How do you stay focused and motivated?
To stay focused and motivated, I live by the motto “A stitch in time, saves nine.” This proverb encourages me to address tasks or problems immediately, which helps me manage my workload efficiently and avoid the stress of last-minute rushes. This approach not only keeps me organized but also continuously propels me toward my goals, maintaining my motivation and allowing me to stay on top of my responsibilities effectively. In addition, I enjoy watching interviews of successful personalities from diverse fields and learning from their experiences. It also helps me learn and inculcate positive habits and behaviors as well as unlearn negative traits, helping me grow as a person.
