Take Action for the 2019 Annual Meeting – Register to Attend, Participate in Snake Pit, and Plan Now to Download the App!
Take care of your 2019 Annual Meeting to-do list by registering to attend, securing your team’s place in the Snake Pit, and preparing to download the mobile app.

ASCPT is Moving to a New Format for the Annual Meeting Program, Putting the Program in the Plam of Your Hands!
In 2019, the Society will provide a foldable document of the Annual Meeting schedule-at-a-glance that is small enough to fit in your jacket pocket or purse, or be tucked into your badge holder. This schedule-at-a-glance will offer details on sessions happening each day, inclusive of session title, time, and room location. ASCPT will utilize the Annual Meeting mobile app to provide the full scientific program, complete with listings of all speakers, abstracts, the exhibitor listing, floor plans, and more, all with the ability to easily find any and all information you will need for a successful Annual Meeting experience! The mobile app will be available in your app store in early March. New to the Annual Meeting mobile app? Plan to visit ASCPT staff at the Info Desk for assistance!

ASCPT Has Your Next Challenge, Snake Pit: Grant Me the Money!

Get Involved With the ASCPT Journal Family
As 2019 approaches, the ASCPT Journal Family offers a new Translational Bytes post, a home for your original research, and the ability to opt-out of the print issue of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics for the new year!

Big Data in Clinical Pharmacology
The rise of “big data” also includes an increase in the need for computational methods to analyze this data, and ways to assess and apply new computational methods to complex drug response data. Deputy Editor-In-Chief of Clinical and Translational Science, Deanna L. Kroetz, PhD, takes a look at this issue in the lastest post on Translational Bytes, entitled Machine Learning Meets Clinical Pharmacology. Read it today!

Call for Original Research
The ASCPT Journal Family welcomes original research submissions in a variety of article types: Article, Clinical Trial/Phase Forward, Database, and Brief Report. Clinical and Translational Science (CTS) is also pleased to consider original innovative research that disproves a hypothesis or produces negative results. Learn more about the scope of each journal by watching our webinar Where to Submit: The ASCPT Journal Family. Still unsure if your research is the right fit? Submit a presubmission inquiry to Managing Editor Emma Shumeyko at emma@ascpt.org.

The ASCPT Career Center has Recruitment Tips for the New Year
The recruitment landscape is ever-changing and evolving, especially as the US job market continues to strengthen and grow. The unemployment rate remains at a 49-year low of 3.7%. Heading into 2019, strategically recruiting highly qualified talent is more important than ever before.

Here are a few recruiting tips to consider when recruiting in 2019:
  1. Create an attractive ad that includes a complete organizational profile, logo, perks of living, competitive benefit packages, as well as any additional compensation, like sign-on bonuses or relocation assistance.
  2. Budget advertising money wisely. Work with a representative or consultant to create customized packages that fit your specific goals and needs.
  3. As unemployment rates go down, highly specialized and niche positions are increasingly harder to fill. Although short-term postings are offered, consider the longer-term postings. Specialized professionals can take months to decide if they want to pursue a new position or not.
  4. Your brand matters. More than 75% of job seekers research an organization before applying to a position.
Professionals look to their association’s career centers to find targeted positions that help them advance their careers. Let the ASCPT Career Center help you reach your 2019 recruitment goals and find the qualified talent your organization needs. Have questions or need assistance, contact vivien@ascpt.org today!
