ASCPT Members-Only Webinar presented by the Quantitative Pharmacology (QP) Network, Translational Informatics (TI), Biomarkers & Translational Tools (BTT), and Pharmacogenomics (PGx) Communities
Title: Drug Re-purposing Opportunities Using Shared Gene Expression Molecular Signatures - Case Studies in Neurodegenerative Diseases and Infections
Date and Time: Thursday, October 10, 2019, 1:00 pm ET
Speaker: Ana Caroline Costa Sa, PhD
Moderator: Jitendra Kanodia, PhD
Description: This presentation will review the growing evidence that peripheral factors to the brain driving neuro-inflammation could affect Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Parkinson’s Disease (PD) severity. Discussion will include viral infection that has been associated with AD/PD and an overview presented on gene expression molecular characterization and drug repurposing methods and datasets publicly available. Examples will include potential drug repurposing opportunities that were identified in a systematic comparison of gene expression molecular signatures of patients with Herpesviridae viral infection and AD/PD patients.
