What does being a 2026 Presidential Trainee Award Recipient mean to you?
Being a Presidential Trainee Award Recipient has been an extremely rewarding experience. Getting recognition for my work out of the numerous high-quality trainee abstracts that ASCPT receives is a huge honor for me. Beyond the recognition, it has been extremely valuable to connect with ASCPT leadership and other presidential trainees, which gave me a chance to network and exchange ideas with others in my field.
What was the best thing about attending the ASCPT 2026 Annual Meeting?
The shift in perspective. Most conferences I attend are purely academic, so it was eye-opening to see how research actually interfaces with policy and the day-to-day operations of the pharmaceutical industry. Getting a look at the ‘real-world’ application of pharmacology helped me see where my own work fits into the larger puzzle of drug development and regulation.
Why did you submit your abstract for presentation at the ASCPT 2026 Annual Meeting?
I wanted to get my research out of my bubble and in front of the people who are actually doing the work. I knew ASCPT would draw the exact experts whose feedback I needed to improve my science. Ultimately, it was about presenting my work to the people who would ask the tough questions that could help me refine my approach.
Who has inspired you in your career?
My PI, Dr. Minoli Perera. While her scientific talent is obvious, what I admire most is her resilience. Watching her navigate recent funding cuts with such adaptability has given me immense pride and inspired me to be more adaptable in my career and my life. Furthermore, she is extremely caring and always looking for ways to help others or contribute to projects. Finally, she has a way of providing guidance that does not just solve a problem but gives me a clear direction when I am feeling stuck.
When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
When I am not working, I love staying active. I am an avid marathon runner and like spending time in the gym. I also like reading books and exploring Chicago's vast food scene.
Anmol has been a member of ASCPT since 2025.
